Helmar Holiday Hop 2011

It’s that time of year where we all start thinking of the holidays so what better way to get your Holiday spirit than a great Helmar Holiday Hop? Filled with so much Holiday cheer and some amazing projects featuring all the different Helmar Adhesives.

Hello everyone and welcome to my stop on the Helmar Holiday Hop. If you have been following along, you should have hopped here from Linda Baldock’s blog. If not, you just have to stop at the Helmar Blog and start from the beginning. There are goodies along the way and we don’t want you to miss a thing.

I have kept it a little simple to show you just how easy it is to create some beautiful decorations for your Christmas festivities.

The first share are some napkin ring holders that I created using Helmar 450 Quick Dry as well as some Helmar Fabric stiffener and draping liquid.

To make these I simply cut some strips out of coloured felt squares. I dipped them into the stiffener and then tied them around a cardboard tube (from an emply plastic wrap) with a little string. I did leave a little plastic wrap around the tube to ensure the felt wouldn't stick as it dried.

When dry I simply removed it from the tube and covered the centre with some paper that I had used a border punch on each side of the strip adhering it with my 450 Quick Dry. I also used this glue to add a layer of ribbon in the middle and some festive flowers to the top. So quick and easy and I can't wait to put them on my table for Christmas lunch this year.

This is what they look without the napkins - as you can see they hold their shape really well!

My second little share are these personalised Christmas balls. I love to make these every year and my Helmar 450 Quick Dry made it the EASIEST process this year. I simply did the writing with the glue. I had to work quickly but snuck in this photo so that you could see the process.

I then sprinkled over some glitter and then tapped the ball to remove the excess glitter.

I just love how they look on my tree!

Splish Splash with a little Helmar Acid free

Well here I am with another fun and easy Helmar project. This time I am sharing how you can get more out of your Helmar Acid free glue.

I have ALWAYS loved those clear looking droplets of colour for boy layouts as what I call ‘boy bling’. I have since gotten to creating my own allowing me to be more in control of how big they are. I absolutely love them for water layouts too, and well in this one I have brought the two of them together!

To create the layout I have also used some Liquid Scrap dots to lift the ‘splash’ created out of the patterned paper.

Helmar Step 1 & 2 Crackle Demo at Scraphaven

When I just finished a project with my beloved Helmar Crackle I am always asked how it works SO I have decided to run a little demo tomorrow night over at Scraphaven.

The demo will run for about 10 minutes and will commence tomorrow night promptly at 6:45pm.

This will be followed by my class which is decorating some cute noodle boxes (see the post below) and a layout class run by Narelle. Details for both can be seen over at the Scraphaven Blog

Along with the demo, Di will be having a pre-order special on the Helmar Step 1 and 2 Crackle at $5.50 each. This is over a dollar off the recommended retail price!

There are still a couple of spots available in my noodle box class, but be quick as there isn't much time left to book in.

Come and join me for a little fun getting into the spirit of Christmas with these little Noodle Boxes.

We will decorate 3 Noodle boxes ready for some yummy chocolates. They will make great Teacher's gifts or that little something you would like to take to a host of a Christmas party you may be attending. In any case, they will be ready to go at the end of the class!

The class will be held at Scraphaven which is located in Sunbury Victoria on Friday 25th November at 7:30pm and will run for approximately 2 hours.

Create @ Home Kit 5 at Tomorrow's Memories.

I was asked to design the projects for Tomorrow’s Memories Create @ Home Kit 5 which is now out and I’ve been told selling quick. I am so pleased to hear that everyone is loving the layouts I created with the step by step instructions (for one and brief instructions for the second) that they can create in their very own home. The kit includes EVERYTHING from beautiful papers, co-ordinating cardstock to beautiful flowers, trims and embellishments. This kit EVEN has an acrylic stamp which can be used on SO many other projects as it is very versatile.

Here are pictures of the layouts I created.

The first is a layout of me and the boys that I had a friend take to surprise my hubby for father’s day. The colours were perfect to go with this paper range.

The second layout is from a photo I took on timer mode on the camera when we went out for the day as a family. It is the norm for us to get out and do something with the kids on the weekend, and this photo is a great memory from our day out.

The big announcement!

I am SOOO excited to be able to let the cat out of the bag (well have been for a couple of days now) that I have made the Helmar Design team for another term. I am really excited to be able to continue to share my Helmar uses with all of the followers, and continue to promote 'in an official' way (I don't think I would ever stop promoting Helmar products - on the team or not!!).

So stay tuned for another 6 months of my Helmar Blog posts and competition shares!!

Scraphaven Retreat

Just a quick share from me today.

The other week I got the opportunity to teach at Scraphaven's annual retreat. I was really pleased when Di asked me to teach the class, and I really wanted to create something a little extra special for them to create. This of course included some wonderful Prima product, Scrapware Chipboard and Helmar Glue. With those three, you really can't go wrong!

This is the layout I came up with (probably about 4 months ago now!) and finally get a chance to share it.

We had fun adding a shabby chic feel to the embellishments with the help of some cream paint, as well as playing with texture paste on the chipboard wings.

This range of Prima papers has been one of my favourites and I just loved working with it.

Ok so the truth is I haven't blogged much over the last couple of months. Aside from dealing with the usual winter sickness that goes along with having kids, we have had a little one with reflux issues that has kept me busy and sleep deprived. To top all of that off I have had heaps of migraines which keeps me away from the computer a heap more than usual.

GREAT news is that the boys are fighting fit and healthy again, my migraines seem to be under control and I am getting more sleep. SOOOOOOO I thought I would do a LONG but worth the read (that is if you enjoy seeing my work LOL) post of some of the things I have been busy creating.

I would have to start back at Helmar's August Sketch Challenge (sketch by Lydell Quinn). I created this layout using the perfect Scrapware Chipboard ka-boom clouds and alphas. I had fun using my Helmar scrap dots on this one to lift the fine chipboard up off the background of the page!

The next project I did as part of one of my regular Helmar posts. I just LOVED creating this very personal item. You can check out the full details of the project along with how I created it HERE

The next project I worked on was this layout for Helmar's September Sketch competition. I just love working with these sketches they are just so much fun. I had fun adhering some thick natural twine down with my Helmar 450 (I don't think anything would have worked better - it was awesome). The twine was a little thicker than I would have liked for the layout, but as luck would have it - I just didn't have enough of the red and white twine I wanted to use! Might re-do this one one day for each of my boys to have a copy of it in their albums :D I didn't use much patterned paper on this one - only the tag at the top, but I did use some yummy Chipboard lettering by Scrapware on there!

This next layout was also posted to Helmar DT blog. It is a layout /i created of my little boy and his love for hanging in the garden with his dad and picking strawberries. I have obviously used some great Helmar product as well as some yummy chipboard from Scrapware. Check out the full post with details on how I put it together here.

I also created this next layout for one of my Helmar Posts in September. My paint, rub-ons, glimmer mist, liquid pearls and Helmar 450 & Scrap dots really got a work out on this one! Check out the story behind it and how I created it HERE

The new October Sketch challenge is up over at Helmar NOW! Just complete a project (doesn't matter what it is) and upload it onto the blog for a chance to win. This is my take on the sketch. Again my 450 and Scrap dots got a workout on this one! My 'Outside the box' is working with sketches and I don't do it very often. I do enjoy Lydell Quinn's sketches though, they make it all too easy!

My latest post for Helmar is this book I made to record all our little family outings that I would NEVER have enough time in the day to scrap on layouts. We are always heading out on the weekend (weather rarely stops us) doing thing and enjoying time as a family. I have also been busy creating for Australian Scrapbook Ideas with work coming up in the next few issues. I currently have an article in the current issue with more ways to create texture and dimension on your layouts. If your local scrapbook store or newsagent don't carry the magazine, you can easily order it online by ordering it through the website HERE The layout pictured at the top of the sneak peak strip down the left side of the issue is one of the 3 I have in this issue.

As it has now been 6 months I am allowed to post for you some layouts that were published back in March. These layouts were part of a feature on using Chipboard pieces on your layouts. They now hang proudly up in my little boy's room as the colours match perfectly.

So my last little share is the layout that gave me my first Magazine cover - Australian Scrapbook Ideas Issue 5. It isn't the best photo as I had taken it at an angle, but I will upload a better one in time. This layout was part of the issue to celebrate the Royal wedding. It is not me in the photos on my layout, but a friend of a friend that allowed me to create this layout using her photos. There is full instructions to create this layout in the magazine and it too can be bought on back order!

Working with Helmar products has been a love of mine long before joining their design team. Probably because their products are just so dependable and there is a glue for EVERYTHING! This week I am having a bit of fun on Helmar's Facebook page, which will include a giveaway to one lucky person who resides in Australia.

Love my crackle

OK so I am sure you are all getting to know how much I love my Helmar Crackle. I have used it again as I wanted to create a vintage crackle effect on the most beautiful Chipboard Doily frame.

Not only did I use this lovely frame from Scrapware, but I teamed it up with some Beautiful Prima flowers, vines and a beautiful pearl lace flourish, and a lovely sheet of paper by Pink Paisley's Butterfly Garden range.

Paperific

Well Paperific is nearly here and I can't wait! There will be loads to see and many little projects to have a go at at the many make-and-takes. Take it from me and set aside a full day as you really can be entertained for that long! There are also some competitions being held and entries need to be in by the 20th August, so get your scrapping feet on!

I will be working at the Scrapware booth on the Saturday, so be sure to come along and say hi. Here is also some info about an amazing class you may be lucky enough to book into if you are REALLY quick!

Scrap the Boys Challenge - June

I have been looking at 'Scrap the Boys' for a little while now and SO wanting to take part in all the fun. I guess my two young boys have kept me too busy - but as my youngest just turned 6 months last week, things are already starting to settle down. That and my Design team commitments have been completed for the month, so I had some extra time.

JUNE CHALLENGE:

All you need to do is use the colours below to create your layout, you can use small amounts of black for doodling, journaling, inking etc as long as it does not take away from these colours...

RED * AQUA * YELLOW * WHITE

When I saw this month's challenge I knew I just wanted to take part - but it was having a chance to get around to doing it. When I took Toby's photo on the day he turned 6 months - it wasn't until I printed it out that I realised what I had done.... the colours he was wearing and the toy he was playing with just matched this challenge so well that it HAD to be the photo I would use. Now don't get me wrong... I HAVE dressed my boys in colours to match a paper range I wanted to use (aren't we all guilty of that LOL), but surprisingly this was totally by chance. Here is my take on the challenge:

I had SO much fun with these colours and collecting items and paper out of my stash to make it. I used Echo Park's Little Boy range which I just love and can't believe how different the layouts are turning out even though I am using the same pack of paper!

I also used my Helmar Crackle on the cogs and some yummy texture paste mixed with yellow paint on the background of red acrylic paint, then accented with some aqua Pearl Ex.

My American craft's thickers matched so well, and I teamed that up with some Webster's alphas from the Hollywood range that were originally white that I coloured in yellow with a Copic marker.

Lastly I added some white and coloured twine from the Twinery (love these and it was the perfect opportunity to use them for the first time).

OF COURSE it was all teamed up with my Helmar 450 Quick Dry and Liquid Scrapdots to put it altogether and achieve some dimension.

Helmar & Best Creation team up to bring you some wonderful inspiration

This week I got to work with a brand of paper I had never before. Helmar have teamed up over the last week to bring you some projects using Helmar and Best Creation papers. Both teams have been busy creating Layouts, cards and off the page projects as part of a celebration of this partnership. What goes along with this??? YES GIVEAWAYS!!

Here is my post that went live last night. I couldn't believe just HOW much I enjoyed working with this paper in the end. Starts would have to be my favorite for boy layouts and projects, and well this had an abundance of them!

I really got some extra dimension into this layout as seen in the pic below

My scrap dots got another MAJOR workout on this one as you can see how much was applied under the title!

I also used my Helmar V2 spray adhesive to help support the title and some of the cut out elements of the page such as the double star seen in this photo.

Helmar and BoBunny - what a team!

I have a few projects that I have been working on at the moment, that unfortunately I just can't share yet. This is one I did a while ago but FINALLY get a chance to share it as it is my latest Helmar Blog post.

I just loved working with this paper, and when I captured these photos of Austin climbing his rock wall at home, I couldn't wait to get stuck into this layout. The colours of this range matched what he was wearing just so well.

I would highly recommend checking out the Helmar DT blog regularly as there are posts everyday (sometimes more in one day) sharing inspiration ideas and info on what glue is best for what part of your projects.

Sharing techniques with Chipboard

Having been working with chipboard on Design teams for a few years now, I was asked to share some of my experience. I thought - what a better way than to have some displayed on a canvas!

The canvas features 12 different techniques with Chipboard and was created for Scrapware (who is a chipboard manufacturing company) to display at the many craft shows they attend. There are SO many more techniques I could have done - but I guess you have to stop somewhere as only SO many would actually fit on there! To narrow it down I chose 12 of my favourite to share. I kept the canvas rather plain - just using some sprays to colour it a little so as to not take away from the techniques.

As I know not everyone can get to the shows I thought I would share it for you on my blog as well. Just click on the photo and it should take you to a page with a larger blown up photo of the project.

Get your Glue on in June!

OK the first of our Design Team challenges is up on the Helmar blog and you have an opportunity to win some awesome product! This month it is a sketch challenge - sketch created by one of the Design Team member Lydell Quinn. It is such a beautiful sketch and easy to work with.

Here is my take on the sketch after I turned it 90 degrees to the left.

I obviously had fun with my Helmar products to create this one... I used my Helmar 450 quick dry, Craft glue, Acid free and Scrap dots. There is a glue for EVERYTHING! I even used the Gemstone glue for the first time, and I LOVE the way it doesn't cloud them if you get a little glue on there, AND it sticks them down without a hassle!

I have actually even used some yummy Scrapware Chipboard on it to show how you can use chipboard elements to complete a layout from a sketch. There are SO many different chipboard pieces out there, you are bound to find one that would work as I did. You can also view the layout in real life at the upcoming Brisbane Show at the Scrapware stand.

Helmar Haul

OK so a few of the US girls are doing video's of the awesome stuff they are getting in their boxes. They are lucky enough to get a heap of products from Helmar's Prefered partners which is super exciting to see what they will be teaming their Helmar up with.

Over here in Oz we get a super box of Helmar products (which suits me fine ;D) and I received my first box today! I was SOOOO excited when the truck pulled up as I knew it was my box from Helmar that was in there.

The delivery guy took AGES to find my box. He had come to the door to tell me I had a delivery then went back to the truck to find it. I was was left standing there... baby in hand (I had just bathed him) and toddler at my side looking at this truck. Waiting .... waiting .... waiting.....

Then finally he appears with this not too big box... BUT as they say! Good things come in small packages :D

And when we opened the box, inside was this awesome supply of Helmar Goodies!

I can't wait to get started on creating some new projects using my now replenished Helmar stash, and well it couldn't have come at a better time seeing I am out of Helmar Acid free glue and Helmar Scrap Dots! There are even some new products in this box of goodies I am yet to have a go at trying, but I know seeing it is Helmar I will love it!

Teaching at Scraphaven

On June 18th at 11:00am I will be teaching a class over at Scraphaven in Sunbury Victoria. I will be teaching a layout that has a heap of different techniques on it as well as an opportunity to use some products you may not have done so before. The layout is a vintage themed layout that you can use any Black and White photo (or a colour one if you prefer).

Here is a sneak peak of the Layout we will be doing:

If you would like to join me, please contact Di at Scraphaven on 0404 266 296 for an opportunity to come along. The class will go for 3 hours and costs $15 plus materials. It is quite an involved class where you will have an opportunity to get your hands dirty. You will also learn how a layout that sometimes looks difficult is actually not that hard at all to create when you take it one step at a time.

The class will take place as part of a 12hr mini retreat of which the cost of this class will be additional to attending on the day. Cost of attending the retreat is $25 and it will go from 9am until 9pm. You may be able to book in for just half the time from 9am-3pm or 3pm - 9pm for $15 but you will need to discuss this with Di. Also if you would like to attend the regular 'Scrap and Chat' the night before for $5 you can leave your things and continue on in the morning!

You will need to book in for at least half a day of scrapping (morning) to be able to do my class. There will be prizes as well as all food fully catered for on the day including lunch, dinner, morning and afternoon tea. Spots on the day are limited and are sure to fill quickly (actually I think they are already filling and it has only JUST been announced!).

I will be attending for the full 12 hours as they are just the loveliest bunch of ladies over there to scrap with so I can't wait. Would love to see some of you join me.

My little boy turns 2!

It has been a bit hard to get a heap of scrapping done lately whilst preparing for my little boy's 2nd Birthday party, so I thought I would share with you some pics from his big day. I also have a little share with regard to the little gift bags I did for all the kids that came.

This was his birthday cake that I slaved over all Saturday. He really enjoyed seeing all of the trains being created, even sitting on my lap at times while I iced.

He just loved everyone singing Happy Birthday to him.

Here is a bit of a close up of each of the cakes.

For his guests gift bags I pulled out my Helmar 450 Quick Dry to create a set of Alphabet foam stamps. To do this I first layered two sticky foam letters on top of each other. I then took my Helmar 450 Quick Dry and glued them to a piece of thick plastic (that I cut out of the box from a toy).

I took my newly made foam stamps and pressed them into some Gesso prior to stamping each letter onto a brown bag. I love the way the white Gesso comes up against the natural looking brown bags. I then simply tied some Dark Blue raffia at the top of each bag to match his Thomas and Friends themed party.

They were pretty simple looking, but I think that is what I like most about them as I rarely pull that off :D

Most importantly though - they were filled with heaps of yummy lollies and some other fun stuff too.

A kitchen for my boys

Over the last few weekends my hubby and I have been busy making a kitchen for our boys to play with. Austin just LOVES to cook with me and so when we had some rather large boxes left from the swings we bought them, I decided to try and make a stove out of one for him. This worked well until he decided to tip a cup of water on it. So I decided to re-think the idea and design it to be made out of wood. I also thought it would be a lovely family project to do together. It has really been a family affair with me designing it... Andrew fixing up my measurements so it worked, him also cutting it all out and putting it together and the three of us painting it. There were obvious stresses with a toddler being covered in paint (that didn't come off too easily), but in the most a great deal of fun.

After it was all painted, we removed the lower doors for Austin to paint in some nice colourful colours that match his room (we thought it could become a cupboard in his room if they get sick of it). We have left the upper cupboards for Toby to paint when he is a little older (I think I might just get him to crawl through some paint and then over the cupboards :D) Lastly we added some finishing touches (a painted stove) knobs, border around the artwork (not a very good job by me I might add) and a light for inside the oven.

And here is the finished project.

We have been busy saving things (like empty sauce bottles) for the kitchen just to make it that more real for them including an old oven mitt that I made smaller with the sewing machine to fit his hands. I never imagined how much fun he would have with it including his friends when they come to visit. I am sure Toby too will enjoy it when he is older.

These are sure to be scrapped, but in the mean time, I hope you have enjoyed my little share.

At the moment all I can pretty much say is WOW. I dared to dream that I would get a 'guest' design spot with Helmar and I made the actual team!

When I put in my application I felt good about what I had put forward and thought that I have at least put my best foot forward that I possibly could. There are SO many talented scrapbookers out there that I never in a million years expected to be successful, just hoped with all my might!

Last week while I was at the Maternal Child Health Nurse (MCHN) for my son Toby's 4 month check-up I got a call on my mobile phone. I could barely understand the person on the other end as the service was so bad, so I asked them to call me back in 30 mins (as it came up blocked number - I couldn't call them back) and I hung up the phone... as I did this the mind had ticked over that little bit more and I was quickly putting some pieces together in my head.... blocked number (possibly overseas) American Accent (could only think of Helmar) and the timing (while they were going through the submissions for the guest and team spots for 2011)...

BUGGER! BUGGER! BUGGER!

Couldn't have imagined how much the MCHN thought I was looney (especially as people that don't scrap or know someone that does - it is pretty hard to explain what it means to you) I was now going to have to wait for that call to come back to know what the call is all about... sometimes not knowing can be just as exciting as you are just dying to know one way or the other.

So in 30 minutes I got another call. At this stage I was busy trying to get a screaming baby into the car as he was now overtired and reception is even worse this time. I simply said I would be home in 15 minutes and would have better reception then. I am sure at this stage Tracy was questioning if she even wanted this person on her team LOL

So I quickly drove home as Toby settled in the car, whilst hoping that hubby would be home as he wasn't well and had popped to the office for just a couple of hours to get things organised. I got home and was happy to see him there :D I thought that would help with any further distractions... I quickly explained to him what was going on. I already couldn't contain my excitement and I didn't even know what it was all about - only thinking that if it was Helmar calling it had to be good as I figured they wouldn't be calling me on what was Sunday night there to say I was unsuccessful...

So I stood in a part of the house that has great reception (where I live isn't the best reception for my carrier) and waited for a call - and soon it did! I was firstly so gobs smacked to be talking to Tracy herself and the news she delivered was just amazing to hear! I was seriously speechless. It was such a whirlwind morning, that I just didn't have any words. I was desperately hoping to get a guest spot, and put in for the actual team as it was a DREAM of mine that I have had for about 2 years now and I was finally in a stage in my life to be able to do it if I was successful

I am just SO thrilled and over the moon that I have made the team, and can't wait to share my work with everyone over the coming months. It was absolutely killing me not to tell anyone last week while wearing a smile from ear to ear, and now feels even better to be able to share it. I just LOVE sharing ideas and is the whole reason I post on my blog - with the hope that it inspires at least one person.

So I couldn't share my news... but I could play with my Helmar products :)

I did this layout of my husband's birthday celebrations we had surprised him with last week. I couldn't help but use my Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots and Helmar 450 Quick Dry teamed up with some awesome Fancy Pants paper and rub ons - It's your Day collection to give the layout that extra bit of dimension.

If you look carefully at the thin line orange circle - it looks like it is floating... but it isn't - it is fully supported with Helmar liquid scrap dots, as is the star. I just love the Liquid Scrap Dots as it gives the best raised effect without seeing any ugly foam tape from underneath... also it isn't going anywhere which I like the most!

Well I hope you have enjoyed my little share about a VERY exciting day I had last week and a new layout.

New DT cards soon to arrive at Tomorrows Memories

I have just finished some new work to go up at Tomorrows Memories (over in Perth Western Australia), and so I thought I would show some of it. These are the cards I made using my pack of BoBunny goodness. I really enjoyed working with the BoBunny Gabrielle Range, it is just so pretty. I was finding it hard to part with these cards in the end, but I know I will eventually get them back and then I can give them to a special friend on their birthday.

I have use my Helmar liquid Scrap dots, Acid free glue and 450 quick dry adheasive on these cards, as I don't want any of those pretty embellishments coming off. They are stuck on there for good!

I recently bought a typewriter and I am just LOVING using it to add what ever words I feel at the time. It is working out really well for journaling. I thought I would get use out of it - but I am getting even more use out of it than I thought, and it only cost me $30, only problems is now I want a bigger one LOL

I love Fancy Pants

I have a few favourite scrapbooking paper brands, and Fancy Pants is one of those. I took this picture yesterday when my mother's group friends and I took our little ones out for a special morning tea to celebrate their impending birthdays and exchange gifts. The 3 of them were just great, and are getting along so well together. I caught this photo when they all decided to give each other a hug when we told them I was wanting to take a photo of them. So glad I had my camera ready and snapped away.

I used a mixture of Love Birds & It's Your Day collections from Fancy Pants. I just loved the pack of rub-ons I used to embellish the page, as the base paper I used, just didn't need too much done to it. It would have to be one of my flattest layouts in a VERY long time, but I love it just the same.

Aside from the paper ranges and rub-ons I used my Helmar 450 to adhere the photo, journaling panel and raffia to the layout. I then used my Helmar Acid Free to adhere it to the Red cardstock background.

My first She Art Girl

Amazing! Two posts in two days and probably not even 12 hrs apart... pick yourselves up off the floor people.

I am having SO much fun getting back to doing something really arty (haven't for many years) as part of the She Art Workshop by Christy Tomlinson.

I have now completed my first Girl, so I thought I would share her. There are definitely improvements needed, but I am happy with my first effort. Can't wait to get stuck into another one!

I have two other background canvases done, so hopefully I might have another two done by the time the weekend is out.

Fun stuff with foam stamps

I had some presents to wrap for my friends' little girls, and I saw this idea on a pinterest post. So although I don't have many foam stamps, I thought I would give it a go!

All I used was some white Gesso as the paint as I love that more chalky look it has, and it looked fantastic on the brown paper.

I just love the look and will definitely be buying some more foam stamps in the future!

Pretty simple, but I like it.

Using Helmar Step 1 & 2 Crackle on canvas

On today's spotlight for Helmar Crackle, the question was raised if it would work on canvas. So I thought, well I'd give it a go - being pretty sure it would.

I used it on a canvas sheet as a background to a card. I did have fun painting the crackle specifically onto the parts of the stenciled image I wanted to crackle. There was no problems with it at all! I also used my Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere the message, butterfly and flowers. I also used some 450 quick dry adheasive to adhere the lace, ribbon and canvas to some old book paper. Lastly I used my Helmar Acid free glue to adhere it to a plain brown card.

I must say I love the look of the canvas and found I could do heaps more with it than cardstock that is made to have this pattern.

Hmmm Crackle on canvas... I might be addicted!

Welcome back chippy!

I have some really exciting news to share as I have been asked to join the Scrapware Design Team. The lovely Angela Conolly is sending me some new chippy to work with - so I will no doubt be sharing some real soon! I have loved her stuff for AGES and now I get to use it in abundance :D

As I have been busy creating for the magazine and my Helmar Design Team application, I don't have a great deal to share... HOWEVER this is a card I did for my lovely mum who has headed overseas this week for a holiday and therefore got her mother's day presi a little early. I really enjoyed creating it as my mum would have to be the biggest fan of my work (as I am sure most mums are :D) and she has kept every hand made card I have made over the years and believe me there are some shockers (especially when I just got started with this hobby LOL). I love that she has kept them all though, as it really shows a journey of my dabbling in this craft and I am not ashamed of any of them!

There are quite a few elements to this card including some punching to accent the strip piece which runs across the card. Some distressing of this piece prior adhering it to the punched piece. (I have used the Martha Stewart Doily border punch) some fake stitching and plenty of bling and Prima. I have even created a doily looking piece with some lace that has been sprayed with Glimmermist to give some colour and shine.

Of course I have used my Helmar 450 and liquid Scrapdots to adhere all the elements together as given the fact that my mum keeps them, I want to make sure they all stay stuck down - oh and because I love my Helmar :D

I have also been busy creating invites for my little boy's 2nd birthday that is coming up next month. I have had fun with some texture paste on this one as well as some liquid scrapdots to create the dimension. I am not sure what 'theme' I am going for for his party, but I loved this paper from BoBunny so I decided to use it for his invites.

Australian Scrapbook Ideas - Latest issue

Today I received the latest issue of Australian Scrapbook Ideas in the mail that has my first feature article. I really enjoyed doing this feature, and just loved how the layouts came together. I hope it provides readers with many new ideas and ways they can get the most out of their chipboard elements along with some 'boy' themed layout ideas.

I thought I would also take an opportunity to share a little birth record book I made recently. I really enjoyed working with what is now an old paper range by making memories that I had in my stash - YES! I used some paper in my stash rather than buying paper for it.

Helmar USA Design Guest Designer Submission

Ok, well I wan't exactly sure if the Helmar Guest Design Team spot was up for grabs by those outside of the US, but I thought, well why not give it a go anyway. So here is what I have created for the call. I don't think I have a layout/card or off the page project that doesn't have any Helmar, so I thought I would use it as an excuse to create some new stuff.

The helmar products I have used are pictured below: Helmar Acid Free, 450, Vellum Adhesive, Fray Stoppa and Scrap Dots.

Gifts of Thought

Paper collections by Prima Marketing and Kaisercraft, Flowers and leaves by Green Tara and Prima, Assorted ribbon and metal embellishments, Liquid Pearls – Opal, Pearl flourish by Kaisercraft, Swarovski crystals, White Gesso, Metallic Rub on, Tattered Angels resist chippies, Fine white netting, Tim Holtz distress ink – Walnut, Black bazzil cardstock, Opals embossing powder – Snow Gum, Stayson Ink – Timber brown

Using Helmar:

I created these similar styled cards and gift box for some special friends of mine. Again my Helmar 450, Acid free and Scrap dots got a work out.

I adhered the paper backgrounds to the second card and noodle box using some of the acid free glue.

I then used a combination of the 450 and scrap dots to adhere the embellishments to the cards and the noodle box. The message die cuts were adhered using some scrap dots to allowing multi level raising. I found the scrap dots particular effective in adhering the metal embellishments on the noodle box as it is very strong once dry.

The flower at the top of the noodle box was created using some of the Prima Marketing paper. I used my Helmar 450 to adhere the petals as I created it, and then to adhere it along with the netting to the top of the box.

I also used my 450 to stick the organza ribbon onto the handle of the noodle box. I did this by running glue along the inside of the ribbon and then wrapping it around. I did this with about 3 inches of ribbon at a time. The 450 was great for this as the glue didn't bleed through and leave a stain.

Products used:

10 frame photo display frame from Kaisercraft, Pearls - kaisercraft, ‘Up Up and Away’ paper and embellishment collection by Kaisercraft, Chipboard arrow by Twiddleybitz, Prima pearl vines, Hessian material, Stayson Ink – Timber brown, Glimmermist – Coffee Shop, Fiskas border punch – Threaded border,

Using Helmar:

To create this frame I used my Helmar 450, acid free glue and scrap dots.

I used my acid free glue to adhere the paper from the ‘Up Up and Away collection’ to the frame and then cut out the holes. Once I stuck the paper for each of the holes on the back of the frame, I added some acid free glue to the back of each one to allow it to adhere to the backing board. I also added some 450 around the frame to give it a strong bond with the backing board that would dry quickly.

After spraying the hessian with some glimmermist to give it a darker brown colour, I removed some of the threads to give it a less dense appearance, allowing the paper beneath it to show through. I then used my 450 to adhere the material to the frame knowing that it would not show up when it was dry. I also needed for it to adhere quickly so without me having to play around with it so that it did not fall apart .

For this project I use my scrap dots adhere the embellishments to the frame that required some dimension such as the balloons. I enjoyed being able to layer this product up to give different heights to the balloons giving it a greater 3D effect. I personally like using scrap dots more than any form of foam tape in this way as it is less noticeable on the raised piece when looking at the project from the side. It also gave the balloons a real feeling of floating in air this way.

Lastly I used my Helmar 450 to adhere the embellishments to the frame, knowing that they would be extremely secure given the strength of this product when dry.

My brave birthday boy

Finally I have finished a double layout of my eldest son's first birthday (sounds funny calling him the eldest when he isn't even 2 yet). I have had this paper and the photos ready to go for a while, but just never got around to putting it together. Must have had something to do with having a baby or something :D

Anyway, I recently went to a crop and decided that this would be my project for the night, and well here it is. He was VERY sick on his birthday, so I was pleased to have gotten even this many photos of him.

I used 'My Minds Eye - Alphabet soup' boy range to create it. I just loved working with this paper, so bright and fun. There was a lovely die cut set that came with it too which was great for embellishing the page.

I did have a learning out of this though - don't go and round the corners on your photos until you are actually putting it together on the layout... I had previously done this (must have been a new thing for me at the time of putting it together with the paper range) to save me time when I was at a crop and wanting to work on it... I just struggled to set it all out in the end because of it. I am happy with the page, but could have been happier I think.

You can't see much of the dimension in the photo, but here is quite a bit which worked well with this paper range.

New stuff

YEP I have been scrapping, but not taking photos, naughty me. Some I can share so I will do as soon as I take some photos, and some I can't, but will be in upcoming Australian Scrapbook Ideas Magazines.

I did this layout of my niece and her cousin using some lovely Rasberry papers. The papers just suited these photos as they had that Asian feel that matched the girls' nighties so well. These photos are a few years old, and it was lovely looking back at the girls so much younger.

I have used all Rasberry products on this page, and below are some quick instructions for you to create it yourself.

1. Take one sheet of the Katelyn's Collection: Princes s paper and tear along the half circle and curl all the edges back. Using some scallop scissors, cut out another half circle using the first half circle as a guide on the same sheet of paper, making it about 1cm thicker so that you will see it when layered up underneath the first half circle. Adhere these together allowing room to later wedge one of the photos into the top half of it.

2. Take a sheet of the Katelyn's Collection: Tiny Flowers and use the reverse side which is plain red as the background paper. You need to distress and curl up all the edges of this piece as well. Now adhere the double layered half circle onto this piece

3. Take a piece of the Katelyn's Collection: Flowers & Stripes and tear a piece that is 12 inches long by 3 inches wide and curl all edges prior to fixing to the layout. Allow room for the second photo to be wedged underneath the strip on the right side.

4. Round the corners and sand the edges of two 6 x 4 inch photos and adhere them to the layout

5. Cut out various flowers and butterflies to embellish the page and adhere them to the page as well.

6. Transfer letters needed for the title to the white cardstock that comes with the paper pack and cut the letters out prior to adhering them to your page.

7. Lastly place some pearls randomly around the flowers and title to finish off the page.

Guest Designer for Scraphaven Retreat in October

Unfortunately I don't have new stuff I can share this week as I have been busy working on another feature for an upcoming issue of Australian Scrapbook Ideas. I do however have some exciting news to share instead.

I have been asked to be the Guest Designer at Scraphaven's (shop is located in Sunbury VIC) retreat which is held in October. This will be a wonderful opportunity to teach to 40+ ladies in a lovely relaxed environment. Aside from battling colds this week we are doing well with Toby not wanting a feed during the night for the past two nights. I am hoping for a 3rd tonight which usually means a new routine (not including that feed) might be in place - and I start to get some decent sleep. He is growing fast though now being 8 weeks old, and he is smiling heaps. Here is a recent pic I took of him.

First layout of my littlest boy

OK everyone, don't get too used to the number of posts LOL Yes 3 for the month so far!

I have just finished my first layout for the year, and before I get stuck into some that I wont be able to share - as they are for the magazine, I thought I would share this one.

I did this layout of my new little boy Toby. He is 5 weeks old in this photo, as it was the first chance (other than in hospital) I have had to take some decent photos of him.

I have used some lovely Shabby Green Door paper as well as an older line from Making Memories for the embellishing. I even used a cute little tag that came with some Country Road clothes I had bought for my other son last year. Still have a couple of them up my sleeve - so I will be sure to use them in the future.

This layout is definitely not my usual style, but I do love experimenting and giving other styles a go - even if I am not quite that great this one, at least I am giving it a go!

My first Magazine Cover

What a surprise I got in the mail.... a copy of the magazine featuring one of my layouts on the cover! I knew it was coming out, but didn't realise it would be out so early. The stunning bride in the photo is a friend of a friend, it was just the perfect photo to display 'Every Girls Dream' wedding.

I really enjoyed creating this layout using numerous flowers, and probably my favourite Kaisercraft paper to date 'English Rose'. The magazine has step by step instructions of the layout as well. It is my first publication in Australian Scrapbook Ideas, and I have some more coming up in future issues.

Australian Scrapbook Ideas Design Team

Some time ago I applied for a spot on the new Australian Scrapbooking Magazine - Australian Scrapbook Ideas. It has been some time since then, where by I have now already completed two projects for the magazine including an upcoming cover layout as well as an informative article (well I hope everyone else thinks it is informative LOL). I found out before Christmas that I had been shortlisted, but was eagerly awaiting finding out if I have actually be lucky enough to get a spot.

Well that news came today!

I am now officially part of the Design team for this fantastic new magazine. I am extra excited as the magazine is full of step by step instructions for the projects/layouts included, so I am sure everyone is enjoying it already.

The current issue below is on sale now in most Newsagents and some Scrapbooking shops. If your local doesn't get it - urge them to, as you wont be disappointed - at a minimum you will get some cool FREE Bo Bunny paper.

Merry Christmas - My new Christmas Angel

Merry Christmas everyone. I do hope you had an enjoyable day yesterday with those most special to you there to share it with.

I must say I have had a rather busy December preparing for Christmas and the arrival of my second Child, who arrived on the 20th December. I was lucky enough to come out of hospital on Christmas eve - just in time to be home to enjoy it with my newly expanded family. We had a fantastic day and are enjoying taking the time to relax today with all the festivities.

Our second son Toby James has been doing really well after making his big arrival on Monday.

I did get an opportunity to take some photos of my little angels so I thought I would share them with you.

My little bit of exciting news and some new work at Tomorrow's Memories

Well today I got some of the most exciting news, so I just HAD to share it.

I had a layout accepted for the cover of the new Australian Scrapbook Ideas Magazine. I am just loving this magazine, as not only do you get to see some beautiful work, but there a full step by step instructions for most of what is in there! I can't believe how many new tips and techniques I have learnt, and now I get to share some as well.

Obviously I can't share with you my layout, but I know it will be published around April next year. It is a really big honor for me, and I can't wait to see it in print.

In the mean time I would like to share a layout I completed recently for Tomorrow's Memories. This has been made into a kit where you can purchase the exact supplies to re-create it tailored to your own photo.

I just loved working with these yummy papers and embellishments - I think there was only 1 thing in the stash I was given to create it out of, that I didn't use! Those girls really know how to put Design Team packs together.

Anyhoo... here is the layout.

You can see it in real life to get an idea of the layers and dimension in it at Tomorrow's Memories in Bassendean Perth, and if you like it enough you can even purchase the kit from them.

Crop for a Cause workshop November 2010

Well I don't know how I did it being at the end of my pregnancy but I recently attended the latest Crop for a Cause Workshop that was held on the 20th November. It is a 12 hr crop that raises funds for many different causes and it run and organised by Melissa Kennedy. She is one amazing woman always finding time to organise these workshops which have a huge amount of giveaways, prizes and competitions. The door prizes alone of which there are HEAPS are all individually wrapped... it is like Christmas presents under your tree times 10! And we all know how much time present wrapping takes. I have provided enclosure links above if you would like more information about the crops which are held in Geelong Victoria and also one to Melissa's blog.

I don't usually get a great deal done at crops, as I am never organised and spend too much time gas bagging! Also, I must say I scrap best in my own space at home with all my tools and embellishments at hands reach. This time was different however... I actually found time to complete the double layout and Christmas decoration challenge prior to attending and also completed a couple of layouts on the day. One of which I can't share yet - sorry :( This was aside from competing in a scrap off where we were all given the same paper and embellishments to come up with a layout for.

I had a VERY eventful day and my luck was definitely with me. I won the double layout challenge where you had to scrap a double Christmas themed layout. Below is what I came up with and there was some REALLY STIFF competition so I was just thrilled to have won.

I am totally in love with the paper I used on this one - it was 'My Minds Eye - Holly Jolly' - my favourite Christmas paper to date. Oh and a HEAP of Helmar glues to make everything stick including PVA, 450 and Scrap Dots. Where would I be without my Helmar?

Also, here is the decoration I created. I didn't win first, second or third in this one, but I enjoyed creating it and knowing that the decoration we created was being added to the hampers everyone supplied goodies for. The box below the tree was filled with Cadbury favourites, so even if my work isn't the favourite thing on their Christmas table, I am sure the chocolates will please :D

I was also lucky enough to win the layout scrap off, where we had 45 minutes to scrap away and come up with a layout. For those that know me, know I take a great deal of time to create my layouts and would NEVER get one done in this time let alone it be good enough to have won! It was a Christmas layout and I have just the perfect photo to put in there, so I am extra thrilled to have gotten another layout done. I will add a photo as soon as I have had a chance to take one :D

I really enjoyed the crop - probably because we got there earlier this time and probably because I know going to the next one will be a real challenge for me to make it to having a new bub on my hands by then. If you are in the area and can get a chance to go I really recommend it. All the ladies that attend are lovely and it is just a wonderful atmosphere to scrap in. Just wish they were more often :D

New Fancy Pants at Tomorrow's Memories

I was lucky enough to receive some yummy new Fancy Pants papers from Tomorrow's
Memories to work with. I just LOVE fancy pants, and couldn't believe how well the colours went with some photos my hubby took of me when I got to drive my brand new car out of the show room.

I was SO excited to finally get my new car, and it was lovely the deal they made at the dealership. It is rare that I get photos taken of me (as with most of us I am usually the one behind the camera) so it was nice to record something that was special to me. I will never forget when I picked it up as it was 2 days before we found out we were expecting our second child. It is funny how two events together can help you remember the dates of special moments.

I think my favourite part of the papers was the acetate overlay that I got to match. I couldn't believe how well it just lifted the design of the paper. I had not used one of these before on my layouts, so it was nice to work with something a little different and a new challenge. It is hard to pick which part of the layout it is, but it has all the leaves and flowers that are around the edge, and the rest of it is clear. It is great for some extra thickness and makes the layout more sturdy too which is great. These papers are sure to sell quickly, so if you are wanting to get your hands on them, pop down to the shop as soon as you can!

I also received the new Artee kids line of papers to create some invitations with. Invitations are always a little challenging, but I hope it helps people to come up with some invitations for parties that are a little extra special.

As always these will be on display at Tomorrow's Memories arriving there either late this week or early next week, so pop down and see them in real life.

Rasberry Goodness

Well I must say I am quite busy with some scrapbooking commitments at the moment. Lucky we have a long weekend this weekend and it will be raining, so should hopefully make a great dent into it all.

I have finished one little project that I thought I would share with you though. I have been having a bit of a play with some of the yummy Rasberry products that were sent to me over a week ago, and well, I can't believe how easy it is to put this range together to come up with something a little more special than usual.

This is a little noodle box I have just finished.

It was so easy to create this having all various products that match from paper to embellishments to finish it off.

I have more projects that I am working on, but just not finished yet, so will be sharing these for you soon. Some are for Rasberry as well as for Tomorrow's Memories that sent me a wonderful pack of stuff last week also. So stay tuned!

New Copic fan

YEP! I finally got me some Copic markers and I love them already! I am doing a class tonight to learn how to use them properly and their many applications, but I couldn't help myself and had to have a play last night.

Not really sure what I am going to do with the images yet - probably make it onto some of my gift bags or cards, but they are there coloured and cut out ready to go on an appropriate project.

Well of late, my new love has been creating these simple little gift bags for when I have a present to give someone, and YEP of late there have been a few. I love creating them and they are just so much more personal. I simply started with some plain brown paper gift bags and decorated them using my current stash and lettering cut out with my pazzles. Here are just a few of the ones I have created recently as I can't seem to locate pics of the others...

Twiddleybitz DT Resignation

Hi Everyone,

I know it has been some time between posts again, but I have some news to share.

I have decided to resign from my spot on the Design Team with Twiddleybitz which will enable me to focus on some other opportunities and commitments I have currently been putting aside.

I have really enjoyed my time on the team and the opportunities it has brought with it, but there is only so much a girl can do, especially with a new bub arriving in less that 3 months time!

I do have some new stuff to post, so look out over the coming week for some new inspiration :)

Display at Tomorrow's Memories

The other day I got a lovely e-mail from Vicki one of the owners of Tomorrow's Memories. It contained a pic of a lovely display of recent layouts I sent across to them.

It was so lovely to know that they have done such a pretty display of the layouts with the papers and embellishments, but even nicer to have the photo sent across to me. Although I am so far away from the shop, it is really nice to still feel just as much a part of the team. I just wish I could pop in there and see everyone, as I miss them SO much....... well maybe a can!

YEP in a few weeks time I am heading off to Perth with my little man. I really can't wait to see everyone, and introduce them to the special little man in my life.

Well I hope all of you are enjoying the blog hop. I know I am!! The ideas, inspiration and chance to win some awesome prizes has just been amazing.... and well now it is my turn :D

For you all, I have created this 12 months of pics of my little man. He is due to go into his new room soon as we have number two on the way at the end of the year. He will be a little young than most (17 months) but we are hoping for a smooth transition to a low toddler bed that my husband and I are currently designing to match in with the linen set that I have purchased for his room. His room will be all about monkeys (his favourite animal at the moment), and so I thought it would be nice to have something already made to go up in his room.

They just grow so quick, so I dug out this Twiddleybitz 'Days to remember' calendar which comes complete with the words that I decided not to use as I wasn't creating a calendar.

Although it was very time consuming to make, it is well worth it when you get to the end and see all those smiling faces looking back at you.

OK, so how to create it. But first some detailed picks....

1. The first job was to cut the blue cardstock to fit each of the wooden pieces. I was only doing one side and therefore only needed 6 + one for the title. I then stiched with white cotton around the edge with a twin needle (this does the 2 lines at once) on the sewing machine. These were all then stuck to the wooden pieces and the slots cut out with my craft knife once dry.

2. The next job was to thread the ribbon. When I threaded it I used a file to space it and then stuck the ribbon to each wooden piece with some double sided tape. This keeps all the wooded pieces even when it is hung.

3. I then cut up the red netting to stick down, and adhered with Helmar 450 glue which is my favourite for making things stick that take a little more effort to stay down. It is also fantastic with ribbon as it doesn't bleed through and show up when dry - even on organza!

4. I then covered all the frames with paper and stuck my photos of choice behind them. These were then adhered to the wooden pieces with some foam tape.

5. The heart swizzle stick has the heart cut off to create a plain wave. I then painted the twiddleybitz arrows, star and the wave with white paint before stamping the light blue on them, to bring out the blue more. You need to wait for the paint to dry before stamping, but it gives a much better base for your chosen colour if it is a bright one.

6. I then embellished the photo hanger with the arrows, titles for the months, some pearls and a title for the top.

I hope you have enjoyed my share, and remember - just because a particular off the page product has a purpose, it doesn't mean it can't be adapted for something different.

New stuff for TM on the way!

YEP despite being sick I have somehow managed to finish some work for Tomorrow's Memories that was sent off in the mail yesterday, so should hopefully be there late this week or early next week.

I absolutely loved working with the papers and embellishments that I was sent, and thought 'why not knock over some more of those wedding pics that will create my future wedding album when I have finished scrapping them all! These papers suited the photos really well, and I even used some new products and new techniques to complete them :)

There was not much that needed to be done to this paper so I simply tried to accent the beautiful gold detail on the paper but cutting the butterfly wings out and lifting them and adding some Glimmermist and diamond dust. I also used some lovely Twiddleybitz fern leaves & mirror butterfly, and pretty ribbon embellishments. OH and my favourite border punch by Martha Stewart!

In this one I used some of the lovely flowers I learnt to make at a recent retreat. Mel Kennedy showed us how to make them. I then added some diamond dust for a more sparkly effect.

I have been trying to play around trying new styles, and well this one is a little more plain than my usual work, but I think it was enough.

Exciting news to share

OK, well it has nearly killed me keeping this a secret, and well I didn't from everyone. BUT now I am at a stage that I am comfortable sharing with everyone.

On Monday we had an ultrasound to see our second bub to be. YEP Baby Beattie No. 2 is on the way. I always wanted kids close in age, and I am so pleased because there will be only 19months between them.

It has been a very different pregnancy so far so I was looking forward to the scan, just to know all is OK, and well it was awesome to see our little jellybean up on the screen and here is a pic from the scan.

Up until last week had been very tired and felt like I had been hit by a bus. I also had a bad cough as the start of the pregnancy where I cracked a rib and although I couldn't get it confirmed (couldn't get an x-ray because of the possibility of being pregnant) it didn't heal for 8 weeks! So all this combined has meant a huge lack of scrapping being done. I just haven't had the energy to even think about doing much scrapbooking. Just really wanted to crash on the couch whenever I could get a chance.

I have gotten back into the scrapping over the last couple of weeks, but unfortunately it is not work I am allowed to share at this stage :( I will share them as soon as I can. I am off on a retreat this weekend so hoping to get some things done so that I can share them next week. So stay tuned.

Wedding Carriage

Well this time I have been up to my usual... altering a product to suit what I wanted to do with it. It was the 'Princess Carriage' from Twiddleybitz that I have removed the 'Princess' off the top to replace with one of their beautiful titles 'Our Special Day'.

There are a heap of Twiddleybitz pieces used on this one... There is the title 'our special day', two fern leaves, mirror leaves 4 pieces, Grapevine corner, the fancy flourish long and of course the princess carriage itself. I have uses some beautiful mulberry roses and Prima leaves/vines to accent this piece as well as some Prima pearls that are just divine. The carriage itself has been painted with Tim Holtz crackle paint (picket fences) and then some frayed burlap distress ink lightly rubbed over the top to give more of an aged look.

Sorry you had to be quick with this one :)

It will be nice to FINALLY have a mini wedding album on display at home (after nearly 5 years LOL)

New Layouts heading off to Tomorrow's Memories

Ok, I am going to try and keep on a roll with my scrapping and posting for all of you out there that take a squiz at my blog.

Here are a couple of layouts I have done for Tomorrow's Memories in Perth WA. They probably won't arrive over there until late in the week, but if you are in the area, be sure to see them in real life, as photos are never the same if you want to take some ideas from them.

The papers I have used are from TPC Studio, various embellishments from Tomorrow's memories, Twiddleybitz chipboard and some beautiful embossed paper available in the shop as well.

These photos are from my wedding, taken with my parents.

I have gone nude on the title for the above layout (adding nothing to the chipboard) and it went really well

The green glimmer seems to have been picked up a little too much by my flash... but it is too hard to take it without the flash at night :) It looks a great deal more subtle on the actual layout :)

SIA Competition Entry

Well firstly I must say I had an ABSOLUTE BLAST at SIA. It was my first time and I felt like a kid in a candy store. It was SO wonderful to meet many of the people I chat to or work with face to face. It was also great to meet some of the more famous international artists that came.

It was a great opportunity to attend with Twiddleybitz, and meet some of my fellow design team members, as well as an opportunity to catch up with Andrew and Nicole again.

Here is the pieces I created to be displayed at this year's Twiddleybitz booth.

This first piece I did was using the Twiddleybitz floating frame. I created it using my favourite BoBunny papers, they just worked SO well with this photo and what I was trying to achieve. I even used REAL sand on the project to give the impression of waves crashing on the sand. I just love this photo of my little boy's first real encounter with sand showing how new some things are to a little one that we take for granted.

I have used 8 pieces on this one (if you count the AUSTIN letters as one) - can you find them all?

This next piece I created using the Twiddleybitz fantasy shadow box that I reduced the depth on by cutting the side pieces in half before putting it together. I have also used some lovely Graphic 45 papers that just suited this photo of a friend's little one just so well!

There are 5 pieces of Twiddleybitz on this one... can you find them all? One is really hard to see but the detail pics may give it away :)

This last one I created with one of my very own wedding photos... I just love this photo and it was a joy to finally put on a layout. Again there are a number of Twiddleybitz pieces on there 6 infact... can you see them all? I have used some of the lovely ebony chips on this one, they are just SO great cause you don't have to colour them at all and they have real impact.

I did learn a lesson with this one though. Don't put pins and needles on a layout that you are wanting to take on as hand luggage. I thought of this the night before I was to leave and although I would have been able to remove the pin, there was no removing the needle that I had left on there for an effect as the thread was stuck down! It had to go in my checked in luggage, but luckily survived the trip.

Happy 1st Birthday to AUSTIN!

Yes well this month has really gotten away from me. Besides my little man turning ONE last week, I have been quite sick with a bad cough and REALLY sore throat that has gone on for weeks! On top of that I cracked my rib coughing so have not really felt like doing a great deal including sitting at the computer or scrapping.

Well I do have some scrapping to share that I recently did for Twiddleybitz for SIA that I will share in the coming days, but until then I thought I would share a photo of my little boy cutting his cake and his very special birthday cake that I made for him.

He was really unwell on his birthday having an ear ache as well as having had gastro days prior, but he did really well to get through his party.

I have been busy creating with projects that unfortunately I can't share yet.

I am able to share this one though! This layout was recently done for Tomorrow's Memories, and is now available for purchase. This pack was jam packed full of goodies to work with and I have incorporated most of them into the layout giving a nice full pack of goodies for you to re-create this layout with.

I did this layout to celebrate a special time we had with my Mother in-law before she passed away last year. It was so nice to get a good photo of her with my hubby while we were still living in Perth. When I saw this paper I knew it was just the right paper that I have been waiting for to use this photo!

I have another pack coming my way from Tomorrow's Memories, so stay tuned over the coming weeks when I will share what I have come up with! ALL BOY CARDS

We all know how much more personal it is to give a handmade card. Well here is an easy opportunity to quickly make your own. Sometimes it is a bit more challenging to make those ‘boy’ cards, so I have put together a quick and easy pack which will see you make 5 boy cards in no time!! The pack comes complete with cards and envelopes, all the embellishments and paper needed to create them as well as full photos and instructions printed and placed in the pack.

The cost of the pack is $10 (+$2 postage costs), pick up welcome as well. The card pack along with other packs will always be available for sale at my monthly crops, but why not get in early and secure one of these packs now as numbers are limited.

The Perfect present for mum on Mother's Day!

Here is another one of the classes that I will be teaching next month.

Why not come along and create this beautiful birdhouse that you can choose to give to mum on Mother's Day (that is if you can part with it) complete with family photo.

This is an Off the Page project (which means anything not on a scrapbook page) where you will have fun painting, cutting and sanding to produce this cute little creation. It also has hooks that you can hang your keys so they are no longer being lost - or in my case out of the reach of little hands :)

The class schedule for April is coming along nicely, and I hope to have it out to everyone shortly. In the mean time I thought I would share one of the upcoming classes that will take place on Wednesday 7th April at 7:00pm.

YES! It's a card class!

I have used the beautiful Loire Valley range to create this set of 5 cards. You will be learning a few different techniques in this one including using Glossy accents in a few different ways to add that bit of zing to your work. You will leave the night with 5 completed cards ready to give away to some special family and friends!

Here is a sneak peak of the cards you will be creating.

There is nothing to fear about attending a class, I will step you through making them from start to finish. I have a variety of people with different experience levels regularly attending already.

A new card

Just a quick post this morning as I am off to celebrate my nephew's 5th Birthday!

It is at a play centre so I am sure it will be lots of fun for the 16 kids attending... I will be painting their faces, which I just can't wait to do! Will post some photos of the faces for you all to see as soon as I get hold of them.

Butterfly Album

Recently I made these cute Butterfly album's for two special little girls (Austin's buddies), and thought it was about time I shared a couple of pics of them. I have taken one photo of each of them as they were done pretty much exactly the same.

I made these using some beautiful Acrylic butterfly albums from Twiddleybitz, they have for a LONG time been a favourite of mine :) and some lovely Basic Grey 'Lemonade' paper.

Yes it is that time again....

This month I am only running two classes as I need to do a heap of Administrative boring stuff to do with my little business, as well as planning to get ahead on the projects for the upcoming months. I do have two great classes though where you will have the opportunity to learn some new techniques, complete some great projects and most of all have some fun in a warm and inspiring atmosphere.

‘Baby Love’ mini album

The first of the classes for this month is the Baby Love mini Album. You have a choice to do your album in Pink or Green. It takes photos which can be added at a later date which would make the perfect gift for someone special or keepsake for yourself.

This class is running on Wednesday March 10th at 7pm and the cost of the class is $30 (includes all materials)

Twiddleybitz ‘Sweet’ layout.

In this class you will be creating this beautiful layout using chipboard pieces by Twiddleybitz. You will be using various mediums to colour the chipboard pieces including colour sprays and markers! You will also be learning some distressing techniques and different ways you can achieve the same result.

This class is running on Wednesday March 31st at 7pm and the cost of the class is $20 (includes all materials)

Well seeing that it is still the month of love, I thought I would share a layout I did some time ago. I did this layout to remember the fantastic Valentines day my husband and I celebrated last year. I love all the bits a pieces I used on this one, and it was my first go at masking which I enjoyed!

More new stuff to share

Yes, I have been busy creating over these past few weeks and I thought I would share with you some more new stuff.

This year instead of making my husband a card for Valentines day I decided to make something small but a little more special using one of the Twiddleybitz small shadow boxes. This is what I came up with. I had fun trying to put as many little pieces as I could on this one! LOL

The classes are going well and this week we did the Easel class. I have a special Aunty and Uncle that recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary so I will be gifting mine to them. I did a 6 x 6 layout to go on the Easel. It changed a little from the origional layout I did - sometimes I just can't leave things alone!! Well here it is:

If you would like to own one of these easels, I am now selling them finished. It is $40 for the easel, and if you would like a custom 6x6 layout to go with your photo it it is an extra $10. Plus postage.

New Design Team stuff arriving at Tomorrow's Memories

Yes, I haven't forgotten about you all, I have just been SUPER busy running my classes as well as getting some new stuff done for Tomorrow's Memories and Twiddleybitz. I received a Pack from Tomorrow's Memories just over a week ago, and I have been busy having a play with all of the yummy stuff they sent me!! These girls really look after me with all the cool things (especially the boy paper) I get to play with. Below are what I came up with. Hope you like them...

This is a beautiful Dusty Attic Dress form... they are SOOO divine - just so delicate to work with. I didn't want to do too much to it as it would detract away from how beautiful it is. I painted the dress with some Ranger Distress Crackle paint and then embossed the stand with silver. Added some really tiny metal flowers and some ribbon for a little more of a girly touch.

Four gorgeous little cards that were SO easy to make, I just love them and wanted to keep them, but alas I will have to wait until they come back to me :(

I ABSOLUTELY loved working with this paper, and I knew Austin had a pair of overalls that besides being a size too big would just work SO well with it, so I dressed him in them and snapped away, the photos reminded me of his many cheeky smiles and personality that is showing SO much these days!

Lastly I did this layout using the ribbons from the March Ribbon Club ribbons. They are all on there!! It just suited this photo I took of Austin and his cousin Jett on Australia Day. I couldn't help but add the Australian Twiddleybitz pieces that I had been wanting to use for a while, they worked really well, and I even added my own design of a 7 pointed star made by cutting up some scrap Twiddleybitz chipboard I had left over from another project... good thing I am always cutting up bits and pieces!

Well my first class commences on Wednesday with the 'Christmas Time' Layout so I thought I would share a picture of the classroom (air conditioned) all ready to go. As it grows I have the ability to fit another two tables in front of these allowing for a total of 8 people to attend the classes and give everyone plenty of room.

To celebrate the first class for Scrappy Chat Designs, I thought I would add an extra prize on top of the door prize on the night!

Yes that is right! Scrapbooking classes.

I have been busily working over the last month to set this all up and apologise to my blog followers for the lack of new posts over this time.

The following classes are the first that will commence as of next month. Kits can also be purchased of the classes once they have been run.

'Sneak Peak' of the Christmas Time layout.

In this class you will be creating this layout to display some of your new Christmas photos! It suits both a boy or girl family or couple photos. You will be using embellishment to jazz up what is an easy layout to re-create!

Class is for 2 hours and costs $ 20

Sneak Peak of the 'Off Shore' Explosion Album
In this class you will be using Kaisercraft 'Off Shore' paper range and embellishments to make a mini album approx 10cm x 10cm which, when open, is larger than a 12 x 12 layout. It is great fun putting it together and even more fun opening and closing it. The paper is well suited to water themes such as a day at the beach, pool or bath time.

Class is for 3 hours and costs $30

Sneak Peak of 'MY BOY' Layout
In this class you will be recreating this 12 x 12 layout. You will be learning about distressing using sanding; hand and machine stitching (and don't worry all you non sewers, we are starting rather simple with this one), as well as using ink to re-create a sanded look. This layout could suit both a boy or girl, as there will be both lettering options.

Class is for 2 hours and costs $15

'Twiddleybitz Easel' off the page project

In this class you will be decorating this beautiful easel from Twiddleybitz using exquisite embellishments by Prima. You have the choice of making the small easel or the large easel. The small easel will fit an 8 x 8 layout displayed, while the large easel will fit a 12 x 12 layout. In this class you will be applying layering and shown how to get the most out of Prima flowers and vines. This piece will make a great addition to your house or as a gift to someone special.

The class is for 2 hours and costs $50 (large) $30 (small)

Crop night

I will also be holding Crop night where you can come and work on your own projects once a
month.

First Date: Friday 5th February
Time: 6pm - 11pm

Spaces are limited. Bookings and payment will need to be made prior to the night.

On this night you can also view the full class pieces for that month and upcoming months (as these are completed). For those not participating in the crop, you are more than welcome to drop in between 6-8pm to view the upcoming classes in real life on this night, just e-mail me prior so we know to expect you.

I really am looking forward to meeting some new people, so please don't be afraid to come along on your own to either the crop or a class. It will be a great way meet some other Scrappers!!

Well I may not have been as busy doing as much scrapbooking as I would like... including making cards for Christmas, but I have been busy getting organised to teach classes from next year. I am looking to commence these as of late January next year.

So if you are looking to learn some new/different techniques or simply an excuse to get out of the house and socialise with other scrapbookers, I will be providing a place to do it!

Christmas is nearly HERE!!

Yes, it is that time of year again. Surprisingly you would think things would be stopping me from getting my scrapbooking done... but no! We have actually re-arranged the house so that I can get more done! How GREAT is that. In the midst of the reorganisation I managed to get my DT pack from Tomorrow's Memories finished. It will be sent off in the morning, so no doubt you will be able to check them out sometime next week when they arrive in Perth!

I was lucky enough to receive some more Daisy Bucket papers to work with. I had the "Merry Wishes' range which was SO easy to work with. I'm still enjoying the double stitching on my work which I started doing about a year ago when decorating my son's room... it is great because you don't have to be exact about it... which USUALLY would drive me insane not to be absolutely perfect, but I am learning to relax more and just do things more freehand...

Hope you like what I created.

Austin update

Well I am currently still working on some new stuff for Tomorrow's Memories, they are taking me longer than I would like but I am getting there and will show soon!

In the mean time I thought I would share some photos I took of my little man yesterday. They were taken of him with the toy his dad bought for him while we were in hospital and matches his room so they will be up in his room real soon. I had some real fun taking them and changed them to sepia to match in better with the colours of his room.

Paperific 2009

I was fortunate enough to go to Paperific on the weekend and it was fantastic. The Twiddleybitz stand was buzzing the whole time!! It was so great to meet a heap of lovely customers and have the opportunity teach make and takes and do a demo of the Large easel and some Christmas Santa keys. Here are some photos of my day there.

This is the easel that I had the pleasure of doing displaying a layout I completed last year for SIA.

Just loved those Prima flowers and glass beads I used on this. Oh and one of Sherry's flowers - they are SOOO pretty Sherry!

This is my curly Christmas tree, I loved doing this one... covered in embossing powder, bling (hard to see in the photo) and crystals.

This is the new floating frame I completed as well, complete with my son's 12 week old footprints and hand prints (scanned and printed onto bazzil cardstock)

Sorry I have not been blogging lately. I am sure I will get back into the swing of things real soon! Austin is 6 months old on Monday and we have FINALLY finished the cold yo yo between the two of us that lasted 2 months! Of course this put me behind AGAIN... but I have been busy creating stuff for TM and Twiddleybits which I will share real soon.

BUT in the mean time if you want to see some of my recent work and work by the other girls on Twiddleybitz's design team, come check us out at Paperific this weekend. We are at booth 11. I will be doing some make and takes today and would love to see you and have a chat!

Daisy Bucket Wall at TM

Last month I sent back my DT work for Tomorrow's Memories, and they decided to make them a part of a feature wall for Daisy Bucket. I was thrilled to know this and just wish I could be there to see it in person. The girls were nice enough to send me a photo which I will share with you all. I absolutely LOVE Daisy bucket papers as they just seem to bring out the best in my scrapping!!

First Steps in Life - Twiddleybitz 'Foot Book'

Ok so I have been really bad at keeping my blog updated. Truth is I have had a VERY busy month with a not well little man. He is finally on the mend now and as soon as I am back up to date with everything I will be back into some more scrapping!

I have managed a little scrapping in this time and it was great to reflect on Austin's life so far! He is 5 months old tomorrow so I have still to add some photos into the book to finish it (the last month, as this book is of his first 6 months) but I thought I would share it anyway.

I have used 'My Minds Eye' - Breaking free paper, which might I add I LOVE!! I think that this brand of paper is quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

Now I just need to get my hands on another one of these books to do the next six months!!

Layout for SIA

Earlier this year I was asked to submit a Layout for Twiddleybitz for the competition at SIA. I realised I had not shared this one on my blog.... so thought it about time. It is another for my wedding album that is slowly getting done. I have used some yummy twiddlybitz pieces (of course!!) and Basic Grey paper.

I struggled at the the time to get it done as I couldn't find my mojo... but it is amazing what a deadline will do... mojo was found and Layout done in a night!

Today my little man is 4 months old, so I made sure I took some photos of him. He is smiling more and more each day. Tonight it was like he had the smiles and giggles for about 2 hours! Such a pleasure to have this much happiness in the house.

New stuff and apologies...

Ok well first of all I must apologise for not updating my blog over the last few weeks. After having a sick little bub for a week and a half - I simply fell behind on SO much stuff including my scrapping and updating my blog.

I have been busy over the last 2 weeks catching up and getting some projects done, and can I say I have REALLY enjoyed my scrapbooking the most in AGES!! I think it has been the challenge of doing male layouts of my little boy. Trying to think a little more outside the square when it comes to embellishments as well as trying to use different elements of a paper range to provide more of the embellishing on the page.

So over the next week I will share the projects that I have completed recently... I hope you enjoy looking them as much as I have had creating them. And also some pic's from by birthday that I celebrated yesterday.

I will start the week with some Design team stuff I have done for Tomorrow's Memories that will be sent off tomorrow morning. I enjoyed using the "Little Monster's' paper range by Daisy Bucket SOOOOOmuch that just can't wait to share what I came up with. Probably not surprisingly seeing that it is one of my favourite brands of paper.

I have not been a person who likes to scrapbook with really bright colours, but I do have a soft spot for orange when it is incorporated into a bright coloured paper range. I made 3 layouts and 2 cards which will be arriving in Perth by the end of the week (I am hoping... - c'mon Australia post!!). They have a bit of dimension to them so if you want to see the full effect you'll have to pop into the shop and check them out!
