Another one for the wedding album

I am slowly working to get layouts done that will one day form my completed wedding album. Here I have scrapped another photo of myself.

I wanted to make this one a bit more dimensional, and so the picture is floating on acetate which is part of the raised frame. It is a little hard to see in the photos, but you may get the idea from the little detail photos I have taken. I had this idea a few weeks ago, and had not had a chance to try it out... Acetate is GREAT for adding a little dimension to your work and also giving the impression of things floating in air.

My baby Shower album

Gee I am loving getting all this scrapbooking done....

This album was done using Kaisercraft products that just looked yummy in this cupcake album. It is so nice to make a mini album out of an event. I have captured everything out of the day that I wanted to in one easy to have around the house album. I am also glad I got it done before the baby arrives as I know that I will be distracted wanting to scrap a new subject soon!

FINALLY!! The nursery decorating is finished!

When I started this project I never thought it would involve so much work! I must say though, that I have really enjoyed the challenge, especially the one thrown my way from my dear hubby when I thought I had finished... he let me know that I should have the decoration going over the wardrobe as well. Well what that meant was that I had to come up with another animal otherwise it would just not be balanced.

The challenge with this was that in the linen range I have for the bub's cot only has a Lion, an Elephant and a Giraffe. Which although they were a bit of a challenge to recreate out of paper, I was able to trace and copy those ones. So I came up with a Rhino to go with the range. I don't think I did too bad on him... and yes I know he has hippo teeth but I thought they looked good and I don't think that the bub will notice this little error on him. I have since called him a Rhinoppotomas which well I think is just as cool... LOL
Here is a photo of him.
I have also re-created the little birdie that is on the curtain tie backs...

It's funny, I am not really a sewer, but I can say that my skills have improved in that area after all of many little squares that need stitching around, as well as the many crosses... I have always wanted to get into quilting, and well maybe one day I will now.

Here are some photos of the Nursery now all decorated and set up. If me going into labour is psychological well then we are all ready to go after the updating of this latest post. I still have a week and a half to go, and I am going to be patient besides being VERY uncomfortable now... I figure bub will come when it is ready!

Safari Animals for baby Nursery

Well, I just couldn't wait to show you all these REALLY cute Safari animals I have done for my baby's nursery. I found this really cute linen set by Natures Purest that comes in a couple of sets... I chose the 'Sleeping Safari' set as I just thought the animals were SO cute in it. The other is the 'hug me bear' range which is also nice but I had my heart set on the safari animals... The only downside was that it did not come with the matching wallpaper border that they had in the 'hug me bear' range... so I had to come up with something to put up on the wall on my own.

I often find that when you can't find something the challenge of thinking what to do and then making it yourself is SO much more rewarding. I decided to copy the animals out of the range but make them out of paper. There was SO much sewing involved, but I LOVE the end product. I also helped me see the worth in this linen range as I now appreciate even more the amount of work that has gone into it... I initially chose it because it was just SO soft to touch...

Well I hope you enjoy my animals... I will post a pic of them up on the wall hopefully by the end of the week as I have a bit more work to do on it all....

I had a great deal of trouble trying to find paper that was striped in the right colours, so for the Elephant and Lion below I used strips of paper stuck onto a neutral striped paper to get just the right colours...
The Giraffe's antennas and tail were also a little challenge as I wanted to keep the stitching effect but knew it would not hold up on its own, so I sewed directly onto some thicker acetate and it worked a treat!
I must say that the process of doing something a little different in the way of scrapbooking has challenged me further and opened me up to some new techniques that I am looking forward to incorporating into future layouts and cards.... especially some more sewing!!!

The belly keeps on growing!!

I thought I should share a new photo with you all that I took last week... It is not the best by photographic standards, but well you can see how much my belly has grown since the last one I posted...
Now for all of you that like to look at the shape to guess what the person is having I have included a front on as well as side on photo... Leave a comment with your guess of when you think my bub will arrive, how big it will be, and of course... if it is a boy or girl!
Everything is going well with the pregnancy with 3 weeks to go now I am getting super excited!!
I have a bit of scrapping to finish for bub's room and then I will post some pic's.
Hope everyone had a great Easter and ate too much chocolate and too many hot cross buns!! I know I did. :)

Twiddleybitz SIA & disappointing news...

I was recently asked to prepare a layout to be entered in the individual layout category at SIA recently held in Sydney (Australia's CHA equivalent trade event) for Twiddleybitz. While I struggled at first to decide what to do, in the end I really enjoyed creating the following layout.

I also have some sad news to share about SIA... I found out last week that the album I had created for Twiddleybitz earlier this year was stolen from their stand. You may have seen this album on a previous post (http://justmebingme.blogspot.com/2009/02/twiddleybitz-challenge.html) I was quite disappointed when I found out that someone would take someone else's memories and hard work never to be returned to them. It really made me speechless... I am very thankful that I do photograph everything I send off as at least I can re-create it .... well at least some day. I know that some of the embellishments were one-off's and I will need to make it a little different.. but I can at least hopefully find and purchase the paper again and other embellishments that I used.
I must say that it has not discouraged me from my scrapbooking or my want to share my work with others.

Thank-you

On Saturday my lovely Sister in-law Amanda threw me a baby shower for my bub who is due to arrive in 4 weeks and 2 days! She went to heaps of effort and organised a wonderful afternoon with the ladies.

Everyone spoilt me heaps and I can't remember the last time I got to open so many presents! I will post some pictures when I can get them off my mum's camera... but until then I thought I would share with you a picture of the thank-you cards that will be coming their way! I made these with a mixture of Kaisercraft papers and embellishments...

I had a very busy Sunday, not only finishing the above cards, but also washing all the clothes, linnen etc ready for bub's arrival which is now not too far away. Everything is clean and smelling beautiful and all is away in it's spot! My bag and bub's bag is packed and now all we have to do is wait for this little one to enter the world! I am really excited now and just can't wait to give my bub a cuddle.... and find out if I have a girl or boy, cause it is now KILLING me to know!!

Now that all is done ready for bub, I will get some more scrapping done before it arrives..... shall post some more stuff this week!
